When does my policy take effect?

New Cars
Your policy will become effective upon the expiry of your manufacturer’s warranty.


Used Vehicles
Your policy will become effective the same date your vehicle is purchased or on the expiry of your car’s manufacturer’s warranty (if Applicable)

What are my duties as a policy holder?

The age and mileage of your vehicle will determine the category and benefits your vehicle qualifies for. There are different service requirements for the different vehicle categories.

In order to maintain the validity of your warranty, it is essential that you service and maintain your vehicle in accordance with your policy wording.

What is wear and tear and why does it affect the benefits?

In the event that your vehicle is performing poorly and no actual failure is detected this is considered wear and tear. Because there is no actual failure SA Warranties commit to 50% of the cost of repair or stated benefit as per the policy wording whichever is the lower

What is the claims procedure?

In the event of a mechanical failure/problem, take the car to a repairing dealer of your choice (for instance the garage that usually services your car) or wherever convenient. Ask the repairer to check what the problem could be and give us a call. We can then, with the repairer, establish if the problem is covered and advise if he may carry on with the job. If your car needs to be towed, the costs will be refunded up to policy liability if the repairs are covered and the claim is accepted.

Can I transfer my policy to my new car?

Provided that you have not lodged a claim against the policy you may cancel your policy. Requests for cancellation must be in writing. If your policy has been financed by a financial institution such as a bank, forming part of a suspense agreement, the pro rata refund will go to that financial institution.
